What a bummer.....
This morning I decided to drive the car to the station, instead of taking the bus, as I was going to go to my sister's for supper tonight. Halfway to the station the engine dies and wont start.
A phone call to the AA and I get the usual "we will be with you within 60 minutes". Oh well.... I'll just read my book. Two minutes later and the AA man was there!!! Luckily he was literally only a mile away when he got the call. He quickly diagnoses the problem as a broken cam belt. Bugger!!! that's expensive!!! He tows me home as my favourite garage has ceased trading and I don't know where to go.
A few phone calls later, and I find another friendly local garage who comes out to look at the car. He points out that I am unlucky as the car has done 76,000 miles and the cam belt isn't scheduled to be replaced until the 80,000 mile service. Anyway, he tows it away with the warning that the worst-case scenario could mean a £1000 bill. Such is life......
